Discussion topics

Social Networking

Facebook best practices - Facebook pages from the IU 12 region, IU12 Twitter list of schools/districts on Twitter
  • Some teachers using Twitter with their classes (teacher/classroom account updated from teacher computer)
  • My Big Campus (who else is using it? ideas? issues?)

BYOD

Cell phones/mobile devices in the high school

Laptops (and other devices)
  • Red Lion is piloting with several teachers (honors & AP classes). Planning to move forward 4th marking period and opening it up to the rest of the High School to work out the bugs before next year.
  • How does this impact teachers & instruction? What changes need to occur to address...
    • Multiple devices and platforms...troubleshooting? battery power?
    • Kids forget, don't have access and your lesson is dependent on the device
  • Dallastown began BYOD at the High School this year. Not a huge response (too heavy, worry about being stolen/broken, etc). Seeing no more than maybe 5 devices per class.
